Buffalo General Hospital was in need of some updated color, and so the engineer turned to Tnemec Coatings, specifying an entirely water-based, odorless coating system. The kicker was, the surface to be coated was anodized aluminum, which was very smooth and not easily accepting of coatings. After a mockup to verify adhesion, production painting went ahead, and after a year or so, the project is just about wrapping up.
Being a hospital, odor was of primary concern to the owner. Even slight odor smells wouldn’t go over well in a building full of sick and injured, right in the middle of downtown Buffalo. To that end, Tnemec Series 115 Uni-Bond, a dry-fall water-based acrylic coating with an uncanny ability to stick to difficult surfaces, was chosen as the primer, with a color-stable water-based acrylic finish coat, Series 1029 Enduratone, to provide the blue finish.
